  1. The first thing I want to point out to you is that the rich man didn’t have a name-point being that he didn’t acknowledge God and God didn’t acknowledge him. Jesus give the beggar a name, which was Lazarus (God is my helper), the beggar he God and God knew him. God honors those who honors Him.(1 Sam.2:30)
  2. The rich man enjoyed his life-he lived for pleasure-his own pleasure. Why is that a problem – the 2 Timothy 3:3, men would be lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. He paid no attention to the condition of Lazarus laying at the gate (cripple, badly diseased with open sores on his body).
  3. Lazarus didn’t desire to be at the rich man’s table, he only wanted the crumbs from his table.
  4. They both die and roles as it relates to comfort and discomfort are reversed. Lazarus is comforted and the rich man is now being tormented.
  5. This is important to remember that Lazarus discomfort was temporary and the rich man pleasurable living was also temporary. Both now both of their conditions are eternal.
