The Favor of God
“Tangible evidence that a person has the approval of the Lord.”
- God shows favor to the ones who delight in, connect with, and give honor to Him.
Isaiah 66:2 says, “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble (heart attitude-those who are not proud or stubborn) and contrite (repentant) in spirit, and who tremble at my word.” This simply means to honor, respect, and hold the Scripture in reverence knowing that these are the very words of almighty God. If we are humble and contrite, we’ll recognize our need for His Word and be willing to yield to its authority in such a way that it affects and changes us.
- Acts 17:24 -God has a heaven and an earth of his own making, and temples of man’s making; but he overlooks them, that he may look with favor to him who is poor in spirit and serious, humility and self-denying; whose heart truly sorrows for sin (godly sorrow-2 Corinthians 7:10): such a heart is a living temple for God.
1 Corinthians 6: 19 -Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
How does God know what we are up to?
2 Chronicles 16:7 –And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him: “Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and have not relied on the Lord your God,
2 Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” To be “perfect” toward Him means we seek His favor more than we seek the favor of anyone else, even ourselves.
How do I get the favor of God? Ephesians 2:8-9
Hebrews 10:20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,
